This policy explains what information Nightscribe (nightscribegame.com) uses and why. Nightscribe is a free browser game. You do not need an account to play.

Information stored in your browser

The game saves the following in your browser's local storage so it is there the next time you play:

• your settings, such as sound and music;
• your progress: ink, Scriptorium upgrades, completed feats and chosen sigils;
• the hero you last played and the name you last entered;
• a random player ID, used to keep your best score on the leaderboard.

This information stays on your device unless you save a score, as described below. You can delete it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

The leaderboard

When you save a score, the game sends the name you typed, your hero, score, time survived, level, kills, typing speed, accuracy and your random player ID to our server. The leaderboard shows your name and those statistics publicly. It never shows your player ID. Please do not use your real name or other personal details as your leaderboard name.

Our server uses your IP address for a short time, in memory, to stop abuse such as sending too many scores. It is not saved with your score. The game is hosted by Railway, which may keep standard technical logs of requests for a limited time.

Advertising

Nightscribe is free because it shows ads from Google AdSense, a third-party advertising service.

• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you are asked for your consent before ads use cookies for personalization. You can change your choice at any time through the privacy settings link shown with that message.

Some ads in the game are optional: after a night you may choose to watch an ad to double the ink that night paid. Ink is only used inside the game and has no value outside it.

Donations

If you choose to support the game, the donation is handled entirely by the donation platform you are sent to, under its own privacy policy. We never see your payment details.

Children

Nightscribe is made for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has entered personal information as a leaderboard name, contact us and we will remove it.

• Clear this site's data in your browser to delete your saved progress and player ID.
• Use the links above to opt out of personalized advertising.
• Contact us to have a leaderboard entry removed.
